Chateau de Chambord
Our first day on the bus found us on our way to Loire Valley and Chateau de Chambord. We visited it as a group though we all went our own ways within the estate. Elizabeth was enjoying the HistoPad and separated from me as well. The Chateau was magnificent and huge. I am never quite sure how people were able to keep the properties up, stay warm or even how to stay cool within these buildings. From Chambord, we continued on to Amboise where we spent the night. After our walking tour of the area we went out for dinner returning to the hotel after dark and a new complication. The hotel desk was no longer manned and the doors were locked. Now what !?! This is why you should always have your guide's phone number. We were able to get ahold of him and find the key code on the back of our key and the back door where the key pad was located. The next day we visited Chateau Du Clos Luce where Leonardo da Vinci spent his last years. We had slept in until about 9 a.m. but we were still able to get there before the crowds became too overwhelming. We enjoyed the house, the gardens and the immersive museum. I think the life size inventions within the gardens were the best part of the visit.
