On Our Way Again
We traveled to Paris by way of the Eurostar Train from St Pancras International Station through the Chunnel to Gare du Nord Station in Paris. I was so nervous to go through the Chunnel, my claustrophobia was making me wonky. However, the actual trip through was very smooth and not too bad. It wasn't until we were over land in France again that the ride got a bit choppy.
Once in Paris we met our Tour at the Hotel Apollinaire. After our introduction tour where we turned in our NEGATIVE COVID tests. We followed our guide William on a quick walking tour of our neighborhood in Paris. He pointed out various restaurants and points of interest for us. After our tour we went on a walking tour in Paris. We found a night cruise on the Seine where we were able to see Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower all lit up. And the food, oh the food that we found was so very, very tasty.
Paris in a Day |
We started our day early in Paris because we had been unable to obtain tickets to the Eiffel Tower in advance. We made our way to the tower early and were the second people in line. After about an hour wait we were able to get in and purchase tickets to ascend the tower. I made it to the top though I did stay attached to the middle of the structure. Yeah, I don't like small places and I don't like heights. Elizabeth on the other hand was excited to go to the top and look out through the city. Once finished at the tower, we returned to the hotel and then tried to figure out the laundry situation. We had packed light and already needed to do a quick load. However, we were unable to figure out the machines. Not knowing French and not using the laundry mats much at home, we did not know that the machine on the side was what you paid and turned on your machine. It wasn't until later in the day when locals were doing their laundry that we were able to figure it out. In the meantime, we visited the Louvre. We even figured out how to download the tickets on my phone. Which would not be our last difficult ticketing situation on our trip.
